Monterey Bay Coastal Bike Path

Go to Monterey City Website Monterey Pacific Coast Bike Path is an all time favorite at our house. Most of the ride is on a pathway dedicated to bicyclist. Along the way you will see fields full of artichokes and strawberries, sand dunes, and the absolutely most amazing views of the Monterey Bay. The ride takes you through State Park the cities of Marina, Seaside, Sand City, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, along 17 Mile Drive and to the edge of Carmel. There are rolling hills throughout much of the route, with the area around Pacifc Grove and Monterey being mostly flat.

There are many spots to park and get on the bike path. We generally start in Castroville and make the round trip from there, but there is easy access from all the towns along the map. The area that goes along the Highway 1 is only accessible at the Highway 1 exit ramps.

If you are visiting from out of town there are lots of places to rent bicycles of all types.

Stop for a meal at a local restaurant or bring your own lunch and enjoy one of the many incredible picnic spots.

For those of you planning a trip we recommend that you bring a windbreaker and gloves since it can sometimes be windy or foggy. It is always a good idea to check the weather.

Come enjoy the bike path for the day or make it a weekend getaway. You will not be disappointed. This bike path is a real winner.
