Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- ½ cup mild molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp white or cider vinegar
- 2½ cups all purpose flour
Directions
- Beat shortening until soft.
- Add sugar, baking powder, ginger, soda,cinnamon, and cloves. Beat until combined.
- Beat molasses, egg and vinegar together and add to butter and sugar mixture.
- Stir in flour, mixing by had if necessary.
- Cover and chill for 3 hours.
- Heat oven to 375°
- When dough is well chilled and easy to handle, roll out on a floured surface. Dough should be about a ¼ inch thick.
- Cut out with cookie cutters.
- Bake until edges are lightly browned.
- Cool and frost as desired.
